FAQ about general dental care

How often should I visit my dentist?

We recommend that you visit us for checkups and cleanings every 6 months. This allows us to detect dental problems that may not be causing any symptoms, but could become serious if not treated on time.

I’m afraid of going to the dentist, what should I do?

It’s natural to be nervous about going to the dentist, but there’s no need to be. Dr. Holmes prioritizes comfort and ensures that you feel at ease before beginning any dental procedure.

  • Intense/persistent toothache
  • Broken tooth
  • Loose permanent tooth
  • Bleeding gums
  • Swelling
  • Signs of infection

Are x-rays safe?

Yes, they are. The amount of radiation you receive is minimal, so you don’t need to worry. However, they are not recommended for pregnant women. If you have any questions about dental exams, Dr. Holmes will gladly answer them!

Is flossing really necessary?

Yes! Flossing once a day is essential for removing food and particles that become stuck between your teeth and cannot be removed by brushing alone. This helps prevent further problems like cavities and gum disease.
